For the first time internationally and unlike other international competitions, the jury is made up of Italy’s leading food and drink tasters, in addition to numerous gastronomy experts and representatives of the food and beverage industry and gourmet lovers.

All products in the competition are subject to a rigorous evaluation process that takes place over a period of approximately 60 days between October and November. During this period, each product is carefully tasted blindly and judged by a jury of four to twelve judges, selected from the best food and beverage tasters, sommeliers, chefs, confectioners, bartenders, food and wine journalists and gourmet enthusiasts, selected for their professionalism and skill.

Regardless of company size or reputation, each product is judged on its’ basic characteristics (appearance, smell, taste), lack of defects, balance, the pleasure it offers, and the quality of the ingredients and manufacturing techniques.

We are pleased to announce that KUKUZI extra virgin olive oil, which has participated in the DLG awards, has been awarded with the Bronze International Award 2018.

The DLG (German Agricultural Association) awards food products with the DLG awards. These quality checks are performed annually for each product group. All awarded products must succeed in the laboratory tests as well as in the method of production, packaging and labelling tests.

The DLG test methods are based on current scientific findings in the quality assurance of food. The core of the DLG tests is the sensory analysis of food (including appearance, smell, taste and texture). The examiners prepare an expert report according to DIN EN ISO / IEC 17065 for each product.

The DLG Food Test Center uses only recognised experts or renowned scientific institutes for its food testing in all areas. In the sensory tests as well as in the laboratory tests, the examiners evaluate the products anonymously, without knowledge of the producer, the brand, the product or the price. To maintain neutrality, the packaging and labeling / declaration tests are performed separately by testers who do not participate in the sensory evaluations.

We are delighted to announce that KUKUZI extra virgin olive oil, which participated in the Taste Olymp Awards for the Highest Quality Food and Beverage Competition, won the silver Olympic 2018 Taste Award.

In this competition, the products were tested with the “blind” method, without packaging and without any distinctive element. Each product has been assigned a code number to ensure reliable tracking. The evaluation of the samples was carried out by numerous jury panels under the guidance of the Olympic Award panel leader, the Chef Mr. Konstantinos Mouzakis. Each judge from the Chefs’ Club individually conducted an organoleptic analysis of the test product and recorded a numerical result on the score sheet that reflected the general sense of enjoyment as well as other criteria such as appearance, smell, texture, taste and mouthfeel.

We are pleased to announce that our KUKUZI extra virgin olive oil was awarded with the bronze medal at the International Oil Competition of London held in 7-10 April 2017.
